My experience of dc to ac inverters ...... most people purchase a 12 volt inverter to operate 240/110 volt ac component because it comes with a 2/3 pin ac plug.

If your ac component has a brick in the power line read that unit instructions as it's probably a ac to dc converter. Example check your lap top power cable most operate at 19 volts dc not 240/110 volts ac so you can operate on 12 volt dc supply direct via a buck booster much more efficiently than using a dc to ac inverter. I operate a LG 24inch led tv that is 19 volts dc input and my 15inch laptop.
