Graham, I am in a similar situation. I joined groups like this one as a way to meet other people living in vans. I also joined a couple of Facebook groups, in my particular case, solo women campers. There are a lot. I do anticipate to have ups and downs but I try to see things in a positive way. Your post is 5 months old, how are you coping presently?
Found myself in same place(am 62 now). Been in van 7 years now. It starts a bit frantic, but it gets better...honest mate...don't rely on park4night entirely cos every man and his dog are doing the same. Go with ur hunch every time , back yourself mate cos it's gonna be the right decision for you. Meeting people will come, don't lock yourself away - go talk with other vanners , they prolly decent bunch. Money! Yeah DWP are a bunch of c**** imho, play their games(you prolly get a sanction or twelve)...it's a good life mate, don't let the bastards grind you down. The government won't help, but vanners and boaters will mate - all's you gotta do is ut yourself about a bit
Really sorry to hear about your situation, unfortunately its not one I can relate to so I cant really offer any advice that's guaranteed to help.
Are you currently living in a van?
I guess the first thing to concentrate on would be finding some sort of an income to just cover the basics as you need to eat and drink, that will take away some of the worries and give you a chance to meet new people.
As for the isolation, do you have any hobbies? reading/drawing/walking etc. if not and its possible join some Facebook groups/Twitter/YouTube and contribute to some discussions, its a great way to talk to different people and help others in the same situation as I can guarantee you are not alone.
Hopefully some others will pop in here and be able to offer you some more helpful advice.
